Palworld Update Unleashed: New Fishing, Salvaging & Trust Mechanics Transform Gameplay!

The recent update for Palworld, in collaboration with Terraria, introduces an array of exciting features including fishing, salvage operations, expanded towns, a Pal trust system, and much more, marking one of the most significant updates since its initial early access launch last year.

The v0.6.0 update integrates Terraria, the widely acclaimed sandbox game by Re-Logic, into Palworld. This update features a special dungeon filled with Terraria’s adversaries, and offers players the opportunity to gather materials within this dungeon to craft equipment inspired by Terraria. Additionally, Terraria’s Moon Lord now challenges players as a raid boss within Palworld.

However, the integration of Terraria content is just a single aspect of this extensive update. It also launches dedicated servers for PlayStation 5 and introduces numerous new features like fishing, a new salvage mechanic, three distinct island types, a trust system for Pals, and an increase in the level cap from 60 to 65. Despite facing a patent lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, Palworld’s developer, Pocketpair, continues to push out major updates. Recently, Pocketpair acknowledged that they had to make certain changes to the game due to the ongoing legal challenges. In response, the community of modders has become actively involved.

Palworld was released on Steam for $30 and entered the Game Pass on Xbox and PC early in 2024, quickly setting new records for sales and concurrent players. Takuro Mizobe, head of Pocketpair, expressed that the launch was so successful that they struggled to manage the enormous profits it generated. In a swift move to leverage Palworld’s success, Pocketpair teamed up with Sony to establish a new entity called Palworld Entertainment, aimed at further expanding the brand. The game was subsequently launched on PS5.

Following its massive launch, Palworld drew comparisons to Pokémon due to similarities between its Pals and Pokémon creatures. Rather than pursuing a copyright infringement claim, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company chose to address their grievances through a patent lawsuit. They are seeking 5 million yen (approximately $32,846) each in damages, late payment fees, and an injunction to prevent further release of Palworld.
