Announcing the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominees
The list of candidates for the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction has been revealed, featuring 14 acts in contention. Notable among them are previous nominees Oasis, the White Stripes, Mariah Carey, Soundgarden, and Joy Division and New Order. This year also sees newcomers such as Outkast and Phish joining the prestigious nomination list. The final selection of inductees will be made public in late April, with the induction ceremony scheduled for later in the fall.
The roster of nominees is rounded out by Cyndi Lauper, Bad Company, Billy Idol, the Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, and Maná. However, some from the previous year’s nominees, including Sinéad O’Connor, Sade, and Eric B. & Rakim, did not make it into this year’s shortlist. The previous class of inductees from 2024 included notable figures such as Cher, A Tribe Called Quest, Dave Matthews Band, Mary J. Blige, Ozzy Osbourne, Kool & the Gang, Peter Frampton, and Foreigner.
John Sykes, chair of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, shared in a press release, “These exceptional nominees each stand out for their unique musical styles and attitudes, which have captivated multiple generations of music enthusiasts and significantly shaped the dynamic evolution and sustained growth of rock and roll music.”
Special Categories and Honors
In addition to performer inductions, three special non-performer awards will be decided in April. These honors include awards for Musical Influence, Musical Excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non Performer Award, recognizing significant contributions to the music industry beyond performance.
