Luke Evans has been selected to star opposite Noomi Rapace in the action-packed thriller “Traction,” which focuses on a former U.S. soldier who heads a humanitarian effort in the conflict-ridden region of Chechnya. The production of this film is by Elizabeth Bay Productions and will be penned and directed by Lorraine Darrow, known for her work on “Pas Sages.”

In the film, Kate (played by Rapace) and her reliable Chechen companion Magomed embark on a dangerous journey after they accidentally provide shelter to a young insurgent named Larissa and a mysterious package she carries. “Traction” depicts their urgent quest as they team up with a skeptical American war photographer (portrayed by Evans), an educator, and her wounded pupil. This ensemble must maneuver through hazardous landscapes while dodging Russian troops and insurgent attacks.

Evans and Rapace are not strangers to working together, having previously co-starred in the 2019 movie “Angel of Mine.” Evans is well-known for his roles in “Beauty and the Beast,” “Nine Perfect Strangers,” “Criminal,” and “Weekend in Taipei,” while Rapace has gained fame from “Prometheus,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” and “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.”

The movie is being produced by CrossDay Productions’ Janette Day, Dennis Davidson, and Simon Moseley, with WestEnd Films managing global sales. The shooting for “Traction” is scheduled to begin this August in Spain.

WestEnd Films, a company based in London, deals with production, financing, and international sales. Its current portfolio includes projects like “Zealot” featuring Kodi Smit-McPhee and Djimon Hounsou, “Breaking Cover” with Scott Adkins, and “Reading Lolita in Tehran” starring Zar Amir Ebrahimi and Golshifteh Farahani.

Evans is managed by Duncan Millership at Anonymous Content, Ruth Young at United Agents, Benji Bar-David at CAA, and Shelter PR. His contractual negotiations were handled by Ashley Morris at CAA.

Rapace’s representation includes Stella Härnström at Luz Eterna, along with Gersh, Tapestry, and Narrative. Her contract was negotiated by Kurt Selling at Behind the Scene.
