Kaitlyn Dever Takes on Abby in HBO’s “The Last of Us” Season 2
In the second season of HBO’s “The Last of Us,” Kaitlyn Dever steps into the role of Abby, a character familiar to gamers and fans of the narrative for her pivotal role. Abby sparked extensive debates and discussions when “The Last of Us: Part II” was released in 2020, and the same level of intense conversation is anticipated as the series progresses.
In an interview with Collider, Dever expressed her awareness of the buzz surrounding Abby’s character, though she chose not to let it dominate her approach to her performance.
“I’m definitely aware of the discussions about Abby, but to deliver my best performance, I had to acknowledge it and then set it aside,” she explained. “Focusing too much on the online opinions could have detracted from my portrayal, which needed to be my primary focus.”
Dever also mentioned that the show’s creators, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, were not overly worried about the negative reactions Abby received from the gaming community during the adaptation process.

“The Last of Us” Season 2 will adapt certain elements from “The Last of Us: Part II,” though it won’t cover the entire game’s plot. The narrative will continue to unfold in the upcoming Season 3, though it’s still unclear how Season 2 will conclude.
