Jon Batiste Shines at Super Bowl LIX Pre-Game
Originating from Louisiana, artist Jon Batiste was a highlight of tonight’s Super Bowl LIX pre-game events. Dressed in an elegant black suit decorated with shimmering brooches, Batiste performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” while expertly playing the piano. The broadcast included clips showing NFL players, the American flag on the field, the U.S. Corps in formation, and the U.S. Marine Corps executing a flyover. You can catch Batiste’s moving performance at New Orleans’ Caesar Superdome in the footage below.
Joining Batiste in the lineup of pre-game entertainers were Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle, who delivered a rendition of “America the Beautiful,” accompanied by additional musicians on tuba and acoustic guitar. Ledisi also graced the event, performing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Prior to these performances, local marching bands, led by Harry Connick Jr., took to the field, presenting a medley that included snippets from songs by New Orleans artists, such as Big Freedia’s “Explode.”
Last year’s Super Bowl also featured memorable musical performances, with Post Malone singing “America the Beautiful,” Andra Day delivering “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” and Reba McEntire performing the national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Recently, Jon Batiste released his latest studio album titled World Music Radio in August 2023. This followed last year’s releases, Beethoven Blues and his musical score for the movie Saturday Night.
