Krafton, a leading South Korean gaming company, has announced that its latest game, inZOI, reached a sales milestone of one million copies within just a week of its release. This marks the quickest sales achievement for any of Krafton’s releases.
Released in Early Access on Steam on March 28, inZOI, a rival to The Sims, garnered immediate attention when it was discovered that the game initially allowed players to run over and kill children, a feature Krafton swiftly removed, citing it as an unintentional bug.
Despite the controversy, inZOI has received a ‘very positive’ rating from users on Steam. The game also achieved a peak viewership of 175,000 on Twitch, making it the third most-viewed in the Games category. Remarkably, it climbed to the top position on Steam’s Global Top Sellers List based on sales revenue just 40 minutes after it was launched.

Moreover, inZOI’s in-game feature for sharing user-generated content, known as Canvas, saw significant participation with over 1.2 million users interacting on the platform and more than 470,000 pieces of content being uploaded on the first day.
Krafton attributes the success of inZOI to its proactive promotional strategies and ongoing dialogue with the gaming community, which have played crucial roles in building trust and anticipation prior to the game’s release. The global showcase and demo of inZOI were particularly well-received, according to the company.
CH Kim, CEO of Krafton, expressed gratitude and excitement about the global reception of inZOI in its Early Access phase. He affirmed the company’s commitment to continuous engagement with players and to the development of inZOI as a sustainable franchise for Krafton.
Looking ahead, Krafton has promised that future updates for inZOI will include new content such as mod support and additional cities. They have also committed to providing all updates and DLC for free until the game’s full official release.
