Warner Bros. has announced an increase in the subscription costs for its streaming platform, HBO Max.
The new pricing structure is effective immediately and affects all subscription levels for new customers. As reported by Variety, the HBO Max Basic With Ads plan now costs $1 more per month, bringing it to $10.99, or an additional $10 annually, totaling $109.99. The HBO Max Standard plan has seen a rise of $1.50 per month, now priced at $18.49, or an additional $15 annually, which sums up to $184.99. Lastly, the HBO Max Premium plan has gone up by $2 per month to $22.99, or $20 more annually, resulting in a yearly cost of $229.99.
Current monthly subscribers will receive a 30-day notification prior to their plan changes, with the new prices taking effect from the next billing cycle starting November 20, 2025. Subscribers on annual plans will not experience any price increase until their next renewal date and will also be notified 30 days beforehand.

This price increase precedes the release of several anticipated series including “IT: Welcome to Derry,” and the “Game of Thrones” spinoffs “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” and “House of the Dragon Season 3.” “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” set to premiere in January 2026 on HBO Max, is based on George R. R. Martin’s “Tales of Dunk and Egg” novellas, which are prequels set 90 years prior to the original “Game of Thrones” series. The third season of “House of the Dragon” is expected to release in early summer 2026. Another series, “Lanterns,” is also scheduled for release on HBO Max next year.
HBO Max continues to host a variety of acclaimed TV shows such as “The Penguin,” “Peacemaker,” “The Sopranos,” “The Last of Us,” and “The White Lotus,” in addition to streaming Warner Bros. movies like “Superman,” “Sinners,” and “A Minecraft Movie.” The upcoming film “Weapons” by Zach Cregger will be available on HBO Max starting this Friday, October 24.
Last month, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav discussed why the company has not yet prioritized cracking down on HBO Max password sharing.
At the Goldman Sachs Communacopia and Technology conference, Zaslav mentioned, “We haven’t focused much on password sharing or the financial aspects yet. Our main goal is to make people adore HBO Max. We aim for them to fall in love with our content, our series, and our unique offerings outside the U.S. Eventually, we’ll address the password sharing issue as part of our strategy, and foresee further price increases as our content quality and series continue to captivate our audience,” he added.
