Haim has just unveiled their latest album titled I Quit, set to release on June 20 through Columbia Records. This album, a follow-up to their 2020 release Women in Music Pt. III, is produced by band member Danielle Haim alongside Rostam Batmanglij. Coinciding with the album announcement, they’ve also released a new single, “Down to Be Wrong.” This track follows their earlier singles, “Relationships” and “Everybody’s Trying to Figure Me Out.” The music video for “Down to Be Wrong” can be viewed below.
The album’s cover art was shot by Paul Thomas Anderson, who is a close friend of the Haim family as well as a frequent collaborator with the band. Anderson has directed music videos for Haim’s tracks like “Man From the Magazine” and “Summer Girl.” He also featured Alana Haim in his movies Licorice Pizza and One Battle After Another and was behind the camera for the cover of Women in Music Pt. III.
A promotional video for the album showcases a variety of “I quit” declarations starting from “I quit what does not serve me,” and includes others like “overthinking,” “nicotine,” “shame,” “dick,” and “my job,” among various dependencies. The last piece Haim released prior to starting the I Quit campaign was a song titled “Home,” featured on Barbie the Album.
Also, revisit the list of “The 100 Best Albums of the 2020s So Far,” where Women in Music Pt. III is ranked at number 79.
