Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Will Bring Back Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, Marvel Confirms

Caution: This article contains major spoilers for the first two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again.

The Return of Daredevil: Born Again

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere on Disney+, featuring the return of Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson. Brad Winderbaum, the Marvel Head of Streaming, TV, and Animation, shared exciting details about the return of these beloved characters from the original Netflix series in a conversation with Brandon Davis. This news comes right after the show’s two-episode debut on March 4.

Winderbaum hinted, “Deborah and Elden will definitely be back for Season 2,” avoiding any in-depth spoilers.

For Woll, reprising her role as Karen Page doesn’t come as a surprise. She appears in the first episode of the new series and, despite now living in what the Marvel Cinematic Universe calls San Francisco, she is set to make several more appearances throughout Season 1. Fans of the premiere will be reassured to know that Karen will continue to have significant interactions with Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock. Meanwhile, Henson’s character, Foggy Nelson, doesn’t have the same fortune.

“I cannot imagine a Matt Murdock story without those two,” Winderbaum expressed, highlighting his anticipation for their roles in the upcoming season.

Tragic Beginnings and Future Prospects

The series opens with a harrowing scene where Matt Murdock’s long-time friend is killed by Benjamin Poindexter, also known as Bullseye. This event occurs within the first 15 minutes of the show, setting a dark tone for the series, which picks up seven years after the original was canceled. Despite the grim start, Winderbaum confirmed that Henson’s character will appear in some form in Season 2.

Explaining the decision to kill off Foggy, Winderbaum stated, “The storyline necessitated it. It forces Matt to confront his inner demons in a way that only such a dramatic event could achieve. It’s reflective of the narrative seen in the comic books where the consequences of violence deeply affect and challenge him.” He reiterated the importance of Karen and Foggy to Matt’s story, emphasizing his excitement about their continued presence in the next season.

As Daredevil: Born Again just began its nine-episode run for Season 1, the full scope of the season remains to be seen as Marvel strategizes for Season 2. Meanwhile, fans can read our review of the Season 1 premiere, which we scored 8/10, noting that, “In Born Again, Marvel revives Daredevil using the successful formula of the original Netflix series.” Additionally, our interview with Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Wilson Fisk, offers more insights into their reactions to the intense beginning of Episode 1.
