Carly Rae Jepsen Joins Forces with New Broadway Adaptation of “10 Things I Hate About You”
Producer Mike Bosner has officially announced Carly Rae Jepsen’s involvement in the upcoming Broadway musical adaptation of 10 Things I Hate About You. This confirmation comes after much speculation last year about her participation. Jepsen is set to collaborate on the musical score with Ethan Gruska, known for his work with Bon Iver. The musical, based on the popular teen romantic comedy, will feature a script written by Lena Dunham and playwright Jessica Huang. The production will be directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, with Tom Kitt, a two-time Tony award winner, handling music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations. Details regarding the debut date on Broadway are still under wraps.
In addition to her new role on Broadway, Jepsen has previously collaborated with Justin Vernon on the 2022 track “So Unimportant.” Ethan Gruska, who will be working closely with Jepsen, has a Grammy under his belt for engineering work on Boygenius’ album The Record, and also contributed to several tracks on Jepsen’s 2023 album, The Loveliest Time. Meanwhile, Lena Dunham is preparing to release her romantic comedy series Too Much on Netflix this year.
