Mark Ruffalo Still Hasn't Seen a Script for Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Mark Ruffalo has expressed that he is yet to receive a script for the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day, despite rumors suggesting he will return as Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter at his latest HBO show premiere, ‘Task,’ Ruffalo mentioned his enthusiasm about potentially collaborating with Jon Bernthal, set to return as Frank Castle, or The Punisher, in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

“The buzz is that I’m on board. Once I see the script, I’ll be sure it’s happening. I’m a fan of his work, and we both know Lena Dunham, who’s a huge supporter of his,” Ruffalo commented with a chuckle.

“I’m eager to work alongside (Bernthal). He brings a unique humor and exceptional skill to his role. It’s intriguing since I’ve never actually met him in person!” he added excitedly.

Ruffalo last portrayed Banner/Hulk in the 2022 Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

The forthcoming Spider-Man film is rumored to feature Tom Holland’s Spider-Man battling it out with urban criminals, including Michael Mando reprising his role as Scorpion.

Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, and Liza Colón-Zayas have been cast in roles yet to be disclosed, joining series regulars Zendaya (MJ) and Jacob Batalan (Ned).

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently being shot in the UK, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Sony is set to release Spider-Man: Brave New Day on July 31, 2026.
