Hidden Empire Film Group, an independent film production company known for projects like “Fatale” and “Meet the Blacks,” has now partnered with CAA to handle its representation.
The company, established by filmmaker Deon Taylor and producer Roxanne Avent Taylor, embraces the philosophy that embracing a diverse range of cultures is not just important culturally but also a smart business decision. They focus on crafting daring stories that highlight and elevate voices that are often overlooked by the mainstream media.
With the assistance of CAA, Hidden Empire plans to broaden its scope into high-quality scripted and unscripted television, as well as delving into sports content.
Known for the 2016 horror-comedy hit “Meet the Blacks” featuring Mike Epps, which led to the sequel “The House Next Door” in 2021, Hidden Empire has also produced the psychological thriller “Fatale” with Hilary Swank and the police drama “Black and Blue,” both of which were directed by Deon Taylor and released by major studios Lionsgate and Sony Pictures, respectively.
Other films from the studio include “The Intruder,” “Traffik,” “Fear,” “Supremacy,” and “Chain Letter.” Together, these films have collectively earned over $300 million globally.
Looking ahead, Hidden Empire is set to release “Freedom Ride,” inspired by the life of the late congressman John Lewis, “Free Agents,” and a multipart documentary focusing on Floyd Mayweather. Additionally, the company is working on a modern version of the 1972 blaxploitation film “Blacula” for Amazon MGM Studios.
Beyond their cinematic endeavors, the Taylors have initiated the civic engagement initiative “Be Woke. Vote,” which has received seven Webby Awards. They have also started the C.L.I.M.B. mentoring program, aimed at helping disadvantaged young women who aspire to work in the entertainment industry.
HEFG continues to work with legal representatives Glen Mastroberte and Andre De Rochers, along with the publicity firm R&CPMK.
