Harrison Dossick, a respected partner at Glaser Weil and a seasoned litigator specializing in entertainment and media law, passed away unexpectedly on August 14 in Los Angeles at the age of 65.
Throughout his career spanning nearly 40 years, Dossick represented a variety of prominent clients including major movie studios, individual artists, distribution companies, and media corporations.
Dossick’s career was marked by several high-profile legal victories. He successfully defended Angelina Jolie in a copyright infringement lawsuit related to her film “In the Land of Blood and Honey.” He also represented FilmDistrict Distribution in a case concerning misleading advertising claims about the movie “Drive,” and worked with Paramount Pictures on copyright and idea submission issues for “What Men Want.” Additionally, he handled a profit participation litigation for Sony Pictures Entertainment regarding a “Basic Instinct” sequel.
Moreover, Dossick represented Sony’s Screen Gems in a dispute over profit participation and image rights concerning “The Partridge Family,” and he also represented Volvo in a case involving the unauthorized use of photos on social media.

In recent times, he was the legal advocate for a well-known screenwriter and director in relation to a major film project and also represented a renowned boxing manager in a commission dispute with a sports promotion firm.

Before his tenure at Glaser Weil, Dossick was a partner at Reed Smith from 2012 to 2023, at Katten Muchin Rosenman from 2000 to 2012, and at Hill Wynne Troop & Meisinger from 1988 to 2000.
He was honored by the Legal 500 and Best Lawyers in America, and was recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer by Los Angeles Magazine and Southern California Super Lawyers Magazine multiple times between 2006 and 2018.
He leaves behind his wife, Joanne, and children, Artie and Carly.
