Revolutionizing Card Sorting with CardMill

For enthusiasts of trading card games such as Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, or Star Wars Unlimited, it’s likely that you have encountered the daunting task of organizing a growing collection of unsorted cards. These cards often end up in heaps around the house, waiting to be neatly archived into storage boxes or trade binders. Sorting through these stacks one card at a time can be a tedious process. However, a breakthrough might just be on the horizon with the introduction of a new sorting technology from a startup named CardMill. This company is launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund their innovative card sorting machine, also named CardMill, promising to make the card sorting process a breeze.

The CardMill device is designed to automatically sort through up to 300 cards in one go. It also logs each card into a newly developed web-based platform, which users can access anytime. The machine offers a variety of sorting options, allowing users to organize their cards by set, color, type, or even alphabetically, as highlighted on CardMill’s official website.

According to the Kickstarter page, CardMill will initially support a range of popular games, with plans to add more in the future. The games supported at launch include:

The technology behind this device includes an AI-powered card recognition system that adapts and improves as it learns more about your specific collection. Additionally, the associated online platform will provide real-time pricing data from TCGPlayer, which is invaluable for collectors looking to sell or trade their cards.

The Kickstarter campaign for CardMill kicks off on July 22 at 9 AM CDT, which is 7 AM PDT / 10 AM EDT, as stated on the CardMill website. The first 1000 supporters of the campaign will be able to purchase the CardMill sorting device at a special price of $350, after which the price will rise to $400. The company anticipates beginning shipments of the device in December.
