At the debut event for Apple TV+’s “Chief of War” in Kapolei, Hawaii, Jason Momoa clarified to Extra that he had no role in securing his son, Nakoa-Wolf, a significant role in “Dune: Part Three.” Momoa, who portrayed Duncan Idaho in Denis Villeneuve’s initial “Dune” film, confirmed his return in the next installment after not appearing in “Dune: Part Two.”
In June, it was announced that Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, the son of Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet, would join the cast of “Dune 3” alongside Ida Brooke from “Silo.” The young actors will portray Leto II and Ghanima, the twin children of Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (played by Zendaya).

“He’s about to get a harsh reality check,” Momoa commented on his son’s casting. “It’s his first real job. It’s going to be beneficial. He achieved this on his own. I didn’t want to interfere, and he managed entirely by himself, which is great for him.”
“I hope my children surpass me, and honestly, I believe he has,” Momoa added. “At his age, I couldn’t do what he’s doing. I couldn’t imagine sitting across from Denis Villeneuve and holding my ground. At 19, I was on ‘Baywatch.’ He’s just 16 and already impressing Denis Villeneuve.”
Momoa concluded, “We’ve brought him up beautifully. Our children… It’s about being loved and having confidence in themselves… And that’s exactly what he is. He’s very self-assured.”

Accompanied by Nakoa-Wolf and daughter Lola Iolani, Momoa attended the red carpet event for “Chief of War.” “Dune: Part Three” is set to adapt Frank Herbert’s second novel, “Dune Messiah,” focusing on Paul “Muad’Dib” Atreides as he ascends to the role of emperor.
In the 2021 film “Dune,” Duncan Idaho serves as the swordmaster and mentor to Paul Atreides. Near the film’s climax, he sacrifices himself to allow Paul and his mother, Jessica, to flee from Sardaukar soldiers. In Herbert’s series, Duncan returns as a clone, though it’s still uncertain if Villeneuve will follow this storyline in “Dune: Part Three.”
