Expanding Cast for Live-Action Street Fighter Film

The ensemble for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Street Fighter is expanding, with David Dastmalchian newly cast as the notorious villain M Bison. Dastmalchian is known for his roles in The Life of Chuck, The Dark Knight, and Late Night With the Devil. He will portray the well-known adversary from the classic video game series.

Sources like Deadline have reported on this development, although Dastmalchian’s representatives have not made any official comments yet. His casting is part of a series of announcements that have recently surfaced. The film will also feature Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck. Additionally, last week it was revealed that Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will take on the role of Balrog, one of Bison’s chief henchmen and a formidable boxer.

The Notorious M Bison

In the lore of Street Fighter, M Bison is often the ultimate enemy that players must defeat. Known for his use of Psycho Power and his position as the leader of the criminal empire Shadaloo, Bison is a key figure in the series. Shadaloo is depicted as engaging in various illicit activities under Bison’s leadership with his ultimate ambition being global domination.

M Bison’s Cinematic History

M Bison first appeared on the silver screen in the 1994 film adaptation of Street Fighter. The role was played by the late Raul Julia, who despite battling stomach cancer at the time, delivered a memorable performance filled with dramatic flair and iconic lines, including a particularly famous speech about Tuesday. This portrayal remains well-remembered by fans of the franchise.

Subsequent portrayals of Bison have included Neal McDonough in Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and Silvio Simac in the web series Street Fighter: Resurrection.
