Director Timo Tjahjanto’s Unrealized Vision for Kane & Lynch Film
Timo Tjahjanto, the filmmaker behind ‘Nobody 2’, recently disclosed his past ambitions to develop a film based on the 2007 video game ‘Kane & Lynch: Dead Men’. Unfortunately, the project did not progress beyond the initial stages.
Through a post on social media, Tjahjanto shared that a few years back, he penned a “short treatment” for a film adaptation of the game. He imagined casting ‘Stranger Things’ actor David Harbour alongside James Badge Dale in the leading roles.
Despite his vision and initial efforts, the project stalled and never moved forward. Tjahjanto commented on the current status of the project, stating that it “Never gotten anywhere,” as reported by GamesRadar.
Never seen a script, but couple years ago when that property was still kinda shit hot. I wrote a short treatment with James Badge Dale & David Harbour in mind.

There was buzz around a potential ‘Kane & Lynch’ movie back in 2010 with Jamie Foxx and Bruce Willis reportedly set to star as Lynch and Kane, respectively. However, like Tjahjanto’s attempt, this version also didn’t come to fruition.
‘Kane & Lynch’ first appeared in 2007 as a video game for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, crafted by IO Interactive, the developers known for the ‘Hitman’ series. The game narrates the dark and gritty saga of two mercenaries embroiled in the criminal underworld. It was followed by a sequel, ‘Kane & Lynch: Dog Days’, in 2010. IO Interactive is currently engaged in developing a project centered on James Bond.
Upcoming Release: Nobody 2
On a brighter note, Tjahjanto is looking forward to the release of ‘Nobody 2’, an action film starring Bob Odenkirk. Written by Derek Kolstad, known for his work on ‘John Wick’, the movie is set to hit theaters this August.
