The upcoming Street Fighter film, which has been in the pipeline for some time, is reportedly adding some major talent to its cast. A former WWE champion along with a notable DC Comics actor are said to be in negotiations to join the project.
According to a report from Deadline, discussions are ongoing with WWE star Roman Reigns, Jason Momoa (known from A Minecraft Movie), Andrew Koji (seen in Bullet Train), and Noah Centino (from Warfare). The inclusion of these actors would certainly bring a robust presence to the film. Momoa, recognized for his portrayal of Arthur Curry/Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe, is also set to appear as the cosmic bounty hunter Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, slated for release in June 2026.
Roman Reigns is a familiar face in the entertainment industry, having held the Undisputed WWE Championship for an impressive 1,316 days. He has also made appearances in major films like Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Andrew Koji has demonstrated his martial arts prowess in several films and television series, including Warrior. However, representatives for the actors have not confirmed their involvement in the Street Fighter movie to Deadline. Noah Centino, on the other hand, featured in the intense action movie Warfare, directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland.
The Street Fighter movie has been in development since 2023 and has seen some changes in its creative team. Initially, Danny and Michael Philippou from Talk To Me were set to direct but were later replaced by Kitao Sakurai, the director of Bad Trip. Legendary Pictures is collaborating with Capcom, the creator and publisher of the Street Fighter video games, to produce the film.
Since its debut in 1987, the Street Fighter franchise has grown significantly through its numerous games. The series typically focuses on a group of skilled martial artists competing in a global tournament organized by M. Bison, the head of the evil Shadaloo organization who aims to dominate the world. The franchise’s first live-action adaptation hit theaters in 1994 with Jean-Claude Van Damme leading the cast and featured Raul Julia in his last film role. Another film, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, was released in 2009.
The film industry’s interest in adapting video games into movies has been reignited by the recent successes of adaptations like Sonic, Mario, and Minecraft. There are currently numerous other video game adaptations in various stages of development, including projects like Watch Dogs and Mortal Kombat 2. The ongoing trend suggests a growing enthusiasm for bringing beloved video game characters and stories to the big screen.
