Killer Instinct Gold

Killer Instinct Gold has been recently included in the Nintendo Switch Online collection.

As a conversion of the arcade classic Killer Instinct 2 for the Nintendo 64, Gold complements the already released original Killer Instinct within the broad assortment of vintage games accessible to subscribers of the Online Expansion Pack.

First launched in 1996, nearly three decades ago, Killer Instinct Gold was crafted by the UK-based developer Rare, known then as a prolific collaborator with Nintendo. During that era, Rare produced notable titles like Donkey Kong Country, Goldeneye 007, and Perfect Dark. The game features a lineup of 10 diverse warriors, offering players the opportunity to engage in various modes, boasting an extensive array of moves and dynamic Combos.

Now under Microsoft’s ownership, Rare continues to manage the Killer Instinct series, making Killer Instinct Gold another Xbox Game Studios title to be launched on the Switch. Despite the re-release of the original Killer Instinct as an Xbox One introductory game in 2013, there have been no hints from Microsoft about a potential new sequel in the series.

The Nintendo Switch Online service offers a subscription-based online gaming platform for Nintendo Switch users. It provides online play with friends and access to a vast library of iconic Nintendo titles from the past four decades, covering systems like the NES, SNES, Game Boy, and Nintendo 64. With the anticipated introduction of the Nintendo Switch 2, it will soon include new GameCube libraries. A free seven-day trial is also offered to new users.
