Beyoncé Claims Best Country Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards with Cowboy Carter
In a stunning victory at the 2025 Grammy Awards, Beyoncé earned the title of Best Country Album for her work on Cowboy Carter. She emerged victorious against other notable nominees including Chris Stapleton with Higher, Kacey Musgraves with Deeper Well, Post Malone with F-1 Trillion, and Lainey Wilson with Whirlwind. The award was presented by Taylor Swift.
During her heartfelt acceptance speech, Beyoncé expressed her surprise and gratitude, stating, “Wow, I really was not expecting this. Wow. I want to thank God. Oh my God! That I’m able to still do what I love after so many years. Oh, my God. I’d like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this, this album. We worked so hard on it. I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists, and I just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about and to stay persistent. Wow! I’d like to thank my beautiful family, all of the artists that were collaborators, thank you; this wouldn’t have been this album without you. I’d like to thank God again and my fans, and I still am in shock, so thank you much for this honor.”
This Grammy win for Best Country Album marks a significant milestone for Beyoncé, who is already the most decorated artist in the history of the Grammy Awards. Notably, this year was the first time she was nominated in the country category, despite her previous attempt nearly ten years ago with the Lemonade track “Daddy Lessons,” which was not accepted into the category by The Recording Academy. Beyoncé shared her experience with the challenges and criticism she faced in gaining recognition within the country music scene when she unveiled the artwork for Cowboy Carter in March 2024.
Additional Triumphs for Beyoncé at the Grammy Awards
Earlier in the evening, Beyoncé also won the 2025 Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance alongside Miley Cyrus for their song “II Most Wanted” from the Cowboy Carter album. Later, she further solidified her successful night by securing the Album of the Year award.
