‘Ready or Not: Here I Come’ Adds Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elijah Wood and More as Searchlight Sequel Starts Production

Sarah Michelle Gellar, known for her role in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and Elijah Wood from “The Monkey” are set to appear in Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett’s new film “Ready or Not: Here I Come.” They will be joined by Samara Weaving, returning as Grace, and Kathryn Newton from “Big Little Lies.” Filming kicks off this Monday in Toronto.

The ensemble cast also includes Shawn Hatosy from “The Pitt,” Néstor Carbonell known for “The Dark Knight,” Kevin Durand of “Abigail,” and filmmaker David Cronenberg. The screenplay will again be handled by Guy Busick of “Abigail” and “Scream” fame, and R. Christopher Murphy from “Castle Rock,” with Tripp Vinson, James Vanderbilt, Bradley J. Fischer, and William Sherak producing.

The original film, which starred Adam Brody, Andie MacDowell, and Henry Czerny, was produced on a modest budget of $6 million but grossed $28 million in the U.S. alone, marking it as Searchlight’s top release of 2019.

Directors Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett expressed their excitement about revisiting the “Ready or Not” universe with familiar faces like Samara, Brett, Avery, and Andrew, and are eager to collaborate with a highly skilled cast and creative team.

Matthew Greenfield, president of Searchlight Pictures, is thrilled about the continuation of the partnership with Radio Silence. He anticipates that “Ready or Not: Here I Come” will deliver a new, engaging experience that matches the original’s clever blend of horror and humor.

Returning to their roles behind the scenes are production designer Andrew Stearn, director of photography Brett Jutkiewicz, costume designer Avery Plewes, and makeup head Colin Penman. New team members include editor Jay Prychidny, hair department head Ryan Reed, and sound mixer Thomas Hayek.

The executive production team features Chad Villella, Tara Farney, Greg Denny, Busick, Murphy, Weaving, and Paul Neinstein.

Richard Ruiz, VP of Production, and Creative Executive Cornelia Burleigh are overseeing the project for Searchlight Pictures, under the direction of DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas, Heads of Production and Development.

Representatives for the actors include CAA and Linden Entertainment for Gellar, Gersh and Narrative PR for Wood, and various other prominent agencies for the rest of the cast.
