Kendrick Lamar Triumphs with Song of the Year at the 2025 Grammy Awards

Kendrick Lamar clinched the Song of the Year at the 2025 Grammy Awards for his track “Not Like Us.” This provocative diss track aimed at Drake surpassed other contenders including Taylor Swift and Post Malone’s “Fortnight,” Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ’Em,” Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather,” Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please,” Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” and the collaborative effort of Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars in “Die With a Smile.”

The award was presented by none other than Diana Ross, prompting an awe-struck response from Lamar. “Come on, man, Diana Ross. Come on, man. Hey, I’m star-struck,” he expressed. Emphasizing the significance of rap music, Lamar passionately stated, “This is what it’s about, man, because, at the end of the day, nothing more powerful than rap music. I don’t care what it is. We are the culture. It’s gon’ always stay here and live forever.” He continued, encouraging the new generation of artists to “respect the art form” as the key to their success and concluded with a salute to his supporters, “All right, salute. I appreciate y’all; love y’all.”

All Nominations Turned to Victories

Lamar’s “Not Like Us” didn’t just win Song of the Year; it swept its categories, securing awards for Record of the Year, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Music Video. Remarkably, this brought the total Grammy count for “Not Like Us” to five, equating the total number of Grammys won by the song’s subject, Drake, throughout his career.
