Box Office Dominated: ‘Snow White,’ ‘Ne Zha 2’ Take Over U.K., Ireland!

Over the recent weekend, Disney’s latest adaptation “Snow White” topped the box office charts in the UK and Ireland, pulling in an impressive £3.8 million ($5 million) as reported by Comscore. The modern take on the beloved fairy tale outshone a host of other new films, setting a strong precedent for the forthcoming Easter holidays.

In the runner-up spot, “Ne Zha 2” from Trinity Filmed Entertainment garnered $1.6 million. This animated sequel, which follows the narrative of its successful 2019 predecessor, has not only achieved one of the highest openings for a Chinese movie in these regions but has also raked in over $2 billion globally, making it the top-grossing animated movie ever and the fifth highest-grossing film of all time.

Coming in third, “Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy” by Universal continued its impressive performance, earning $1 million in its sixth week. This latest installment in the romantic comedy series has accumulated $57.6 million, securing its status as the highest-grossing UK release of the year to date.

Close behind, Universal’s thriller “Black Bag” claimed fourth place, earning $953,565, boosting its total to $2.9 million after two weeks. Warner Bros.’ science fiction movie “Mickey 17,” directed by Bong Joon Ho and featuring Robert Pattinson, took the fifth spot, bringing in $946,757 in its third weekend, with a total of $7.6 million so far.

Curzon’s “Flow” opened in sixth place, earning $533,270. Warner Bros.’ crime drama “The Alto Knights,” starring Robert De Niro, debuted in seventh with $503,287.

“Marching Powder” by True Brit Entertainment remained in eighth place, adding $172,398 to a three-week total of $3.4 million. Universal’s animated feature “Dog Man” continued strong in ninth place, earning $328,317 in its seventh week and bringing its total to $17.1 million.

Completing the top ten, Disney’s “Captain America: Brave New World” added $128,148 in its sixth weekend, reaching a cumulative $23 million.

The coming week promises a diverse array of new releases across UK and Ireland cinemas. Trafalgar Releasing will showcase “Imagine Dragons: Live From The Hollywood Bowl (With The LA Film Orchestra)” starting Wednesday, March 26. This concert film features the Grammy-winning band performing with orchestral backing.

On Thursday, March 27, Dreamz Entertainment introduces the Telugu-language comedy sequel “Mad Square,” and the National Theatre will screen “Dr. Strangelove – NT Live 2025,” a filmed stage adaptation of Stanley Kubrick’s classic Cold War satire.

A busy release day on Friday, March 28 sees Mubi’s “The End,” directed by Joshua Oppenheimer with stars like Tilda Swinton and Michael Shannon, hitting theaters. Warner Bros. also releases “A Working Man,” a new film starring Jason Statham. Paramount is set to launch “Novocaine,” a dark comedy with Jack Quaid, Amber Midthunder, and Betty Gabriel. Picturehouse Entertainment offers “La Cocina,” a drama set in a bustling New York restaurant kitchen, starring Rooney Mara and directed by Alonso Ruizpalacios.

Quiver Distribution will release “Irena’s Vow,” a WWII drama featuring Sophie Nélisse and Dougray Scott. Conic’s documentary “War Paint – Women At War” highlights the pioneering contributions of female war artists. New Wave is set to release the comedy crime drama “Misericordia” by French filmmaker Alain Guiraudie. Dartmouth Films introduces “The Stimming Pool,” an experimental documentary exploring neurodivergent experiences, while Jade Films brings Stephen Fry’s comedy “Time Travel Is Dangerous.” Magnetes Pictures will distribute the Polish fantasy “Kleks I Wynalazek Filipa Golarza,” and Universal plans to release the horror thriller “The Woman In The Yard.”

In anticipation of the Eid festival, Bakrania Media is set to release “Sikandar,” an action-packed Hindi-language film by director A.R. Murugadoss starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna. Dreamz Entertainment also prepares to launch the Telugu-language action movie “Robinhood,” and Moviegoers Entertainment reintroduces “The Legend Of Maula Jatt,” a highly-regarded Pakistani action epic with a strong international following.
