Hello everyone… recall the wild theory involving Ant-Man and Thanos? The one suggesting Ant-Man could miniaturize himself, enter Thanos’ backside, and then transform into his “Giant Man” persona to essentially burst Thanos from within? It’s hard to forget such an idea. Apparently, Paul Rudd, who plays Ant-Man, also finds the “Thanus” theory quite memorable.
“I sometimes ponder whether it would have actually worked to defeat Thanos like that. Didn’t Thanos possess the Space Stone at that time?” Rudd discussed during a ComicBook interview alongside Jenna Ortega for their new movie, Death of a Unicorn.
Ortega, however, seemed puzzled by the discussion, prompting Rudd to explain. “Are you familiar with what we’re discussing?” he inquired. “There was this theory—about battling Thanos, why didn’t Ant-Man just… instead of Thanos, they called it ‘Thanus,’ go up and expand.”

A somewhat amused Ortega responded, “I thought he was already large?”
“Ant-Man or Thanos?” Rudd asked.
“…the purple one?” Ortega suggested.
“Thanos,” Rudd clarified. “I shrink really small, and then I go…”
“Oh! That’s why you’re called Ant-Man!”
“Exactly.”
“Wow. That’s intense.”
This theory, though bizarre, doesn’t have a clear origin but began to circulate more widely in 2017 during the hype for Avengers: Infinity War. It resurfaced with gusto in 2019 with the release of Avengers: Endgame. It remains a popular and hilariously absurd fan theory to this day.
With the theory’s newfound attention, some supporters still speculate whether this unconventional tactic will ever be employed against any MCU villain in the future. The next major antagonist is Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, set for release in May 2026. However, as Doctor Doom is not as physically imposing as Thanos, the Avengers might not resort to such an extreme measure this time around.
However, one should never underestimate the unexpected in the MCU. Anything, even this, might just happen.
