Alabama Shakes Announce First Tour Since 2017

The band Alabama Shakes, consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, and bassist Zac Cockrell, recently performed an unexpected reunion show in December. Following this, they’ve revealed plans to embark on a North American tour this summer, marking their first series of concerts since 2017. The tour will feature a variety of supporting acts including Sam Evian, El Michels Affair, Shannon & the Clams, Lee Fields, among others. Below, you can find a complete list of the tour dates for Alabama Shakes.

Brittany Howard expressed her enthusiasm about the upcoming tour in a press release, stating, “Last year, Heath, Zac, and I began discussing how exciting it would be to reunite, create new music, and tour once more as Alabama Shakes. This band and our music have brought immense happiness to us all. It’s hard to believe that it’s been a decade since we released Sound & Color and eight years since our last performance. Our aim isn’t just to reminisce about the past; we’re equally focused on the future. We’re thrilled to soon share several new tracks. There’s nothing like the thrill of playing ‘Don’t Wanna Fight’ or ‘Gimme All Your Love’ live — it’s a truly electrifying feeling.”

Howard highlighted in her statement that it’s been since April 2015, with their album Sound & Color, that Alabama Shakes last shared new music. According to recent updates, the group has been collaborating with producer Shawn Everett on fresh material.

Since the latest Alabama Shakes album, Brittany Howard has ventured into solo projects, releasing albums titled Jaime and What Now. More details can be found in the 2019 feature titled “Brittany Howard on Her Solo Debut, Her Black Heroes, and Owning Her Greatness.”
