‘Another Simple Favor’ Trailer: Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick Reunite in Italy for a Deadly Dose of Revenge

Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick Return in “Another Simple Favor”

Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick are set to reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel “Another Simple Favor,” a continuation of their 2018 darkly comedic film. The original movie featured the actresses as friends who become entangled in a complex web of romance, betrayal, and deadly schemes.

In the new film, we find Stephanie (played by Kendrick) and Emily (played by Lively) crossing paths once again. This time, the drama unfolds in picturesque coastal Italy, where Emily is preparing to marry a rich businessman. Stephanie, having authored a book about their previous adventures, encounters Emily during a book promotion event. Emily, freshly out of prison, uses the opportunity to invite Stephanie to her wedding, potentially setting the stage for further intrigue and revenge.

The sequel also welcomes back familiar faces including Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, and Kelly McCormack, all reprising their original roles. Under the direction of Paul Feig, the ensemble cast promises to deliver another round of suspense and humor.

Global Premiere and Release Details

“Another Simple Favor” is slated to premiere globally at the SXSW Festival in March, with the event scheduled from March 7 to March 15 in Austin, Texas. The film will have the honor of being the opening night screening, setting the tone for the festival’s lineup.

The narrative of “A Simple Favor” was originally adapted from Darcey Bell’s 2017 novel. The first film was a financial success for Lionsgate, earning $97.6 million worldwide on a budget of $20 million. It also gained significant popularity on streaming platforms, becoming the most-watched movie on Netflix during the early stages of the sequel’s production.

Director Paul Feig expressed his excitement about the sequel’s release, noting his affection for the original film. Feig was particularly pleased with the film’s performance in theaters and its broader reach on streaming platforms, which allowed it to connect with a larger audience.

This time around, Amazon Studios has joined as a co-producer, planning for a direct-to-streaming release on Prime Video. This strategic move aims to tap into the robust streaming market and reach viewers worldwide more effectively.
