In recent years, the popularity of pursuing DJing as a career has reached new heights. With the simultaneous growth of the dance music industry which has made it possible for multiple young producers and DJs to rise to stardom and headline festivals in no time, thanks to a single hit, more often than not, the dark and harsh realities of the job often get lost in translation. And while the flashy perks might certainly out number the difficulties and problems which professionals in this field face, it has become extremely important to put those issues under the spotlight.

In an attempt to highlight the negative effects of the DJing career on artists’ lives and what keeps them going, DJSounds have released an eye opening documentary which covers these topics, while also gaining insight from industry professionals and some of dance music’s finest acts namely Luciano, Seth Troxler, B.Traits, Carl Cox, Pete Tong and more. Titled ‘Why We DJ – Slaves To The Rhythm‘, the 40-minute documentary discusses the sacrifices a DJ has to make in his/her life, alongside talking about the severe toll on their physical and mental health. Taking the lives of Avicii, Eric Morillo and Ben Pearce as examples to discuss the struggles which many professional acts face, the honest and revealing documentary is a must watch for everyone.
