Study Points To A Likely Relationship Between Beer And Music

For ages now, scientists have been studying the psychological factors which would affect one’s diet. It seems that they have certainly landed on something which can help you judge your liking towards beer. Belgian and Dutch researchers have found a positive correlation between beer and music.

Scientists at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and KU Leuven in the Netherlands recruited a group of 231 participants and divided them into 3 groups: one which drank a label-less bottle of beer without music, one which drank a labelled bottle of beer without music and one which drank beer while listening to music. The beer here was a limited edition porter provided by the Brussels Beer Project.

On amassing results from before and after they went through the experiment they discovered that people felt more pleasure when they “experience sounds which went with the beer’s identity”. The maximum sense of pleasure was derived when they already knew the song playing in the background. The collaborators plan to expand their research to different beer types and eventually to food groups.
