deadmau5 has always been the one to speak his mind, whether its a rant against the stereotypes in dance music, or against artists who are too comfortable in their comfort zones.
In a newly emerged video from Joel’s livestream from back in 2015, the ‘Strobe‘ producer talks about how he made it as a DJ and producer, while also giving sound advice to upcoming artists. Discussing his humble beginnings, Zimmerman recalls the days when there was no social media, or the fact that he “wasn’t scooped up by Tiesto and piggy-backed onto the stage of Ultra“, and how that worked in his favor.
He also cites Skrillex’s example, revealing how the then unknown producer gave Joel a USB with Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites during a HARD party in LA, stating that he valued that human connection a million times more than a spam link.
