Argentina Bans Large Scale Electronic Music Festivals After Five Die At Time Warp

The government of Buenos Aires, Argentina’s capital, has announced that it will no longer be allowing permits for large scale electronic music concerts, following the death of five people at Time Warp Argentina due to a drug overdose.

The passing away of the 5 attendees saw the cancellation of the festival, with emerging concerns over the use of drugs at electronic music festivals. Buenos Aires mayor, Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, has added that the measure will remain in effect until the city legislature approves a law to prevent drug abuse during these types of events.

Argentina has been a hotbed for electronic music events of late, with shows such as Armin van Buuren’s ASOT, Ultra Buenos Aires (returning in 2016), Creamfields Buenos Aires and many more having seen incredible attendance numbers, and it remains to be seen how this band would affect the future of such shows in the country.
