Major Lazer have been on a worldwide rampage! With their ‘Peace Is The Mission‘ LP earning critical and commerical acclaim, the dance hall trio has also genuinely looked to spread love and peace with their performances. And sticking to that exact note, the Diplo-led crew created history this past weekend. Taking over the island of Cuba which was marred by political issues, namely the USA-Cuba embargo which has stuck around for the past 50 years recently resumed ties and to further inaugurate the welcoming of American acts on their soil, Major Lazer stayed at the helm to create a landmark show that is bound to go down into the history books.
Talking about the country, Diplo also remarked :
“For as long as I can remember, Cuba has played an influential role on my love of music—Cuba has such a powerful cultural impact all over the world and for me, especially growing up in Florida, it became one of the biggest cultural centers for music to evolve from. I was lucky enough to visit Cuba a few years back with my friends Calle 13 and during my four days there my mind was blown by the people, depth of culture and their way of life.”
The famed trio performed at the Musicabana Music Festival to an audience of more than 100,00 capacity. And, much more to the fans’ liking, the people were entitled to free entry. As massive as the performance sounds, it truly has contributed towards the dance music culture and peace amongst countries on an equal basis.
