Well-known for his smashing live sets and heavy electro sound, Jordy van Egmond better known by his stage name, Dyro is nothing short of excellent with his music production and DJing skills. Born on April 22, 1992, in the Dutch city of Leiden, Dyro has landed releases on reputed record labels like Revealed, Musical Freedom, Def Jam and more. He has also delivered official remixes for the likes of Rihanna, Nicky Romero, Calvin Harris and more! Dyro currently holds the 27th spot on DJ Mag’s top 100 DJs poll and his rise to the global dance music scene shows his high-quality releases and spectacular live shows are here to stay! As the Dutch wunderkind gets ready to take over BPM, Hyderabad next weekend, get to know all about him below.
One of the finest Dutch artists around, Dyro started his journey with learning the famous music production software, FL Studio. As he got better, he started producing music with the alias, Dyro. Laidback Luke discovered him on a forum and soon he got signed to Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings in 2010. After landing a few records on Mixmash, Grapevine Grooves and Amsterdam Massive, he released three tracks with Revealed Recordings, ‘Daftastic’, ‘Metaphor’ and ‘Magno’ in 2011.
In 2012, Dyro expanded with the releases like ‘EMP’, ‘Raid’, “Top of the World” and more on the labels like Spinnin’, Smash The House and Revealed. The evolution of his sound was noteworthy with the blend of progressive and electro elements. Dyro also mixed the compilation album The Sound of Revealed 2012 with Dannic.
As he was moving forward with his passion for music, he continued to study engineering. Being on the tour, he could not study full time but he used to fly home for exams and then back to touring. By 2013, Dyro was a household name of Revealed alongside Dannic and Hardwell. He joined Hardwell and Dannic for the Hardwell Presents Revealed: Canadian Bus Tour and also the North American tour.
The tour did not stop him from keeping on delivering new music. Dyro collaborated on ‘Paradise’ with the one and only Tiesto, which was included in Tiesto’s Club Life Vol. 3. Two of his tracks were included in Hardwell Presents Revealed Vol. 4 in 2013 and his remix for Wilkinson song ‘Afterglow’ landed in the month of october of the same year. Known to be his one of the most popular tracks, “Never Say Goodbye” with Hardwell and featuring Bright Lights, was released in 2013 and peaked to #23 on UK Dance Chart. After a busy and productive year, Dyro debuted on the DJ Mag top 100 DJs poll at no. 30!
After delivering numerous chart topping and clubs-smashing tracks on so many reputed record labels, Dyro decided to go independent in 2014 with his own record label. Post the success of the tracks like ‘Radical’ and “Calling Out”, Dyro announced Wolv Records with his own track titled ‘Wolv’. The track was highly technical and dark electro house with subtle acid house influences, which was well-received by the whole dance music scene. Wolv gave a whole new direction to the electro house movement right when needed. The releases from the artists like D.O.D., Loopers and many others, Wolv brought the unique artists and sounds which were hard to be heard in the big room dominated paradigm of that time.
In 2015, while Dyro delivered the tracks like ‘Foxtrot’ and “Like a Boss” which signifies his current inspirations for dark and gritty electro sound, he also gave the tracks like ‘Bittersweet’ with Conro which blends the progressive style with his native sound. Dyro released the compilation album Wolvpack vol. 1 in the october of 2015 consisting of the finest release on Wolv Records and he also hosts a radio show titled Wolv Radio.
The current year saw the release of his highly awaited debut EP titled Set Me Free. This four track EP was an excellent collection of Dyro’s current musical direction.
Since 2010, Dyro has played and headlined the prestigious venues and festivals around the world, including Tomorrowland, Ultra Miami, Dance Valley, Electric Zoo, TomorrowWorld, Spring Awakening in Chicago, Creamfields in the UK and EDC Las Vegas. Everything sums up to only one fact that there’s no stopping to this undeniable Dutch superstar.
