Flume fans all over the world have been nothing but excited since the beginning of 2016. The Aussie superstar’s album preview – for the hotly awaited Skin, dropped soon after ‘Never Be Like You’ and ‘Smoke and Retribution’ were available for online streaming. And all this New Year excitement of course followed his collaboration ‘Some Minds’ with Andrew Wyatt. So fans have been excited about his unique new style and Flume’s new sonic direction.
However, new music seems to be only the beginning. Flume clearly has lots more in store for us. A new, cubical version of his “Infinity Prism” design can be spotted in the Laneway Festival aftermovie clip. We’re sure that minds of fans at the Australian festival were blown away. There’s no longer a hexagonal tunnel that projects an assortment of trippy light designs. There’s now a new cage-like structure that combines a chain of mini cubes under the decks to generate effects akin to those created using his Infinity Prism. It’s clear that Harley Streten and his team are working super hard to craft this experience.
In Harley’s own words, the new album is “headphone music.” Everyone’s waiting for the release date for Skin. He also added during his Triple J interview, that the music was fundamentally complete and that there’s “lots of Flume this year.” We couldn’t be more excited.
