Finally, the 27th of December came and brought the first day of Sunburn Festival at Vagator, Goa. With Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Kygo, Martin Garrix and David Guetta headlining and the supporting line up consisting of some of dance music scene’s biggest names, the enthusiasm was at peak. With a newly designed mainstage, ‘Empire of The Sun’, Sunburn added more value to its premium experience that it is known for. The hype for the stage was unreal. Attendees were found shouting and Snapchatting the pictures of the stage partially visible from the entrance.
Mainstage kicked off with homegrown talents NDS, OM and Dualist Inquiry warming up the crowd. At 6 pm, Sam Feldt took to the stage and played smooth sounds which complemented Vagator beach’s cool evening breeze. Things got intense soon as Headhunterz played an excellent set with some of the best peak time tracks. The beauty of the stage was becoming more and more clear and awe worthy with its lighting and production as it was getting darker. While Mattn provided a bit of cool down, clock soon hit 9 o’clock and it was time for the headliners of the day, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike! With Like Mike‘s consistent cheering and interaction, the crowd enjoyed at its best during their set. DVLM played almost all the pop & hip hop hits moulded into their bigroom mashups. The set’s highlight has to be the crowd singing “Lean On” so loud that sound from the stage was not audible!
The first day of Sunburn Goa featured a dedicated stage for Revealed Recordings and Kit Ball Records. While homeboys Kash Trivedi and Aerreo opened, the Revealed lineup consisting of Manse, Julian Calor, Joey Dale, Dyro and Thomas Newson carried the energy. The music that was played there was indeed up to the taste of Revealed fanboys but the visual production was excellent. While Dyro headlined with his dark electro sounds, Thomas Newson closed it with a stellar peak time set!
The Techno/Deep house tent featured the Kit Ball recordings stage with the resident acts like Juliet Sikora, PACO, PAJI and Tube & Berger. The star wars themed stage had an exciting setup of stage production which gave hallucinating feels with tent’s lighting and visuals. Away from the mainstream sounds, this stage had its own blissful deep and tech atmosphere which surely took the listeners to a new level of pleasure.
The Psy stage featured Digital Hippie, Spec, Sunglider, Audiogramme, Liquid Soul, Egorythmia and Spinal Fusion. Located near the entrance itself, people made sure to drop by the stage. Closed by Spinal Fusion, the stage saw dedicated listeners having a great time. Never Hide Sounds stage, curated by URI, saw superb performances from Minus 6, Mojojojo, Midifiddler and Paperqueen. The stage’s look was interesting with an elevated setup featuring visual setup of Ray-Ban sun glasses!
Along with the stages, the flea market was full of customers. Stalls providing all sorts of variety in food & beverages and activities, attendees were having a great time! A cool setup named “Meeting Point” was there for people to mark a meeting place if friends get lost in this big venue.
Just like that, the first day of Sunburn Goa came to an end as we hope to catch yet another Bangin’ day today. See you there!
But fo real, Sunburn was amazing! Thank you INDIA! See you tomorrow at the mainstage!
