We have already learnt about Carl Cox‘s departure from Ibiza’s legendary club Space where he is set to hold his residency for one last time in 2016. Having been at the forefront of dance music for almost 3 decades now, the UK legend has seen dance music evolve from a rudimentary position to the juggernaut it has evolved into. Not only is he one of the most respected names in the industry today, but his relationship with the Ibiza club is something spectacular and to see him depart is truly a heart-wrenching sight.
For those of you who might have thought that Carl was shutting down altogether, he addressed those speculations in a recent feature with Mixmag and talked about it in elaborate fashion.
“People think if I’m not doing Space, I’m not doing anything. Steady on! Take a breath! I’m going to slow down, no doubt about it. The travelling aspect is hard on my body, hard on my brain. I want to wake up in the morning and feel normal. I can’t sleep on demand in all these different time zones. I don’t want sleeping tablets, but I haven’t had a natural eight-hour sleep for years. I’m the consummate night owl but I can’t get back into a daytime rhythm. If I carry on I’m going to burn out. But I’m not over yet – far from it. I’ll just be doing less.”
Hence, as one of our favorite veteran artist announces his plans to cut down on live performances, make sure to not miss out on any opportunity to witness Carl Cox. Feeling nostalgic already? Check out this memorable set by the legend at Boiler Room below!
