The early 2000’s saw Tiesto reign the world of electronic music with his infectious brand of Trance, and going on to be voted as the No. 1 DJ on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs from 2002 to 2004. While now Tiesto has moved on to electro house and big room, there are still some fans who wish he would go back to Trance for a one off set/performance. Since that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen anytime soon, there’s a little respite for all of you.
A Soundcloud channel, going by the name of “Rave_on” has been uploading classic Trance sets from the likes of John ’00’ Fleming, Armin van Buuren, Airwave, Tiesto amongst many others. Featured in the list of Tiesto’s classic sets are his performances at various festivals including the likes of Mysteryland, Sensation, Ultra Music Festival, Creamfields and many more, ranging from 1998 to 2009. However, our pick from the list has to be Tiesto’s set at Dutch Dimensions in Amsterdam in 2002. Playing for almost 7 hours, the set features Trance classics from Paul Oakenfold, BT, Faithless, Airwave, Above & Beyond‘s alias Tranquility Base, and his own tracks amongst many others.
The set shines light on Tiesto’s shining days as a Trance DJ and producer, and while not a lot of people appreciate his switch to electro house or big room, you cannot deny his stature as an important factor in the growth of Trance.
