Mad Decent boss Diplo had teased us last month that 5 new Major Lazer releases are coming up in November and yes they are finally here. Following up on the group’s third studio album Peace Is The Mission, which was released on June 1, 2015 and contained the smash hit “Lean On” with DJ Snake and featuring MØ as well as other popular tracks like “Night Riders” featuring Travi$ Scott, 2 Chainz, Pusha T and Mad Cobra and “Powerful” featuring Ellie Goulding and Tarrus Riley, the extended album features 5 new tracks and they are bound to become chart toppers.
First up is their remix of their own creation “Light It Up” by Nyla & Fuse ODG. The rework intertwines snazzy brass styling with dynamic percussive instruments, resulting in a poppy house cross-breed. The 2.0 version also features a new collaboration with Dutch producer MOTi and rap vocals by Ty Dolla $ign, Kranium and Wizkid. The song manages to keep your summer vibes alive with hints of tropical, moombah and their own Jamaican influences. Next up is another Major Lazer original titled “Waves” featuring Kali Uchis on the vocals. With the perfect flavor of reggae and nice and smooth vocals, this track is a must on your weekend playlist. You guys need to thank the trio for making you reminiscence those summer memories. The penultimate track is “Thunder & Lightning” and boy this track is complete savage. Moombah sounds, stripped out trap beats and the perfect vocals, this track is ready to be shipped to festival sets. The last track is Major Lazer’s cover of an original track “Lost” by Frank Ocean feat. MØ and marks the end of the album perfectly. The trio and the talented singer turn the soul song to a sparkling amalgam of dance and pop and reggae.
