Google Trends Shows EDM Is The Only Genre That Has Grown Over The Past Decade

Google Trends has been one hell of a feature provided by the mammoth world search engine. One can easily analyse mentions of a specific topic over time, how the topics have been discussed with time on the web. One of the recent useful analyses of the genre trends in the decade has revealed that among popular genres like classical, hip-hop, heavy metal, rock music, country, pop, electronic dance music (EDM), it’s only the EDM that has grown positively over the years.

What’s more to notice here is that while electronic music has seen a steady growth over the past decade, it is yet to reach the level of popularity of most other popular genres worldwide. Country when compared to electronic music showcases such results clearly. With figures released from IMS earlier this year, the EDM industry is estimated at $6.9 billion worldwide and depicts that electronic music isn’t any worse off, but we still need to chase a long road ahead.
