Despite We Are Your Friends bombing at the box office, it seems like American production houses aren’t yet to give up on the EDM trend that has gripped the country. The CW, the television network behind TV shows such as Arrow, The Flash, The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and many more, and CBS, the television network behind shows like The Big Bang Theory, Criminal Minds and more, are coming together to develop their own dance music drama.
Titled ‘The Drop’, the show will be set against the background of Miami’s electronic music scene, the show focuses on the spiraling life of a DJ, who finds hope in his protege, an African American woman, something which is kind of a rarity in the world of dance music.
Steve Angello will act as the executive music producer for the show, while R.J Cutler, who’s known for directing shows like Nashville and 30 Days, will be donning the director’s hat for the show.
