A kid who found his interest in music because of the low-profile human lifestyle in the cold weather and small isolated towns of Vermont, and now has made quite a name for himself. Yes, we are talking about 23 years old DJ and producer, Pierce Fulton!
In today’s festival centric productions, there are only a few producers whose productions and style stand out and keep the spirit of the Electronica movement intact, and Fulton joins the league at a very young age. But before he even got into electronic music production, in 1998, at just the age of 6, Pierce started with a guitar playing the requests of the family members and covering 60s-70s era rock, having no idea where this will lead in future. After a few years, along with all the genres he discovered, Pierce’s music interest got broadened and he eventually learned more instruments – including drums, piano, trombone and more. Pierce’s fascination for taking a concept from one instrument or genre and applying it to something new, ultimately turned out to be an activity that has defined the core of his music.
At the age of 15, after the experiments with classic rock, reggae, blues and even a bit of metal and classical music, Pierce was finally introduced to the world of electronic music at his school. Pierce’s study in the music class involved back to back music theory and electronic music production classes and another course in music history which taught him the fundamentals of production programs, basic synthesis/sound design, and sampling in addition to the history of iconic electronic music from the likes of Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin, Frankie Knuckles, and more. But so far away from club culture, Pierce was making progress, at the alternative space, in the studio!
Pierce made his first real breakthrough at the age of 18 with his first 3 track EP titled “Pardon My French“, in which he sampled some unconventional sounds and started generating buzz for his music style. A track from the EP, “Lay Right Here” was even broadcast worldwide on SiriusXM. With breakout singles including Where We Were, Runaway, Old Man & The Sea and most recently Kuaga, the original sound of Pierce is touching the crowds and is getting a tremendous response.
