Hailing from Oldenburg in northern Germany, European techno master Oliver Huntemann is one of the most reputed personalities in the world of dance music. With epicentre that was Hamburg for Oliver, and always will, he has produced his music from there and set it out into the world. Possessing a long catalogue of musical recordings including collaborations with Dubfire, Bodzin and remixes for Chemical Brothers, John Dahlbäck and Cirez D, Huntemann’s journey has always been in dedication towards the upliftment of underground music scene around the world.
The concrete roots of Oliver trace straight back to early styles of techno music and like so many in the community, his path to techno also took a journey through electro and rave. Oliver actually kick started his career with Confused Recordings (in partnership with Jan Langer), ‘Styles’ being first, and since then has released a majority of his stuff on the label.
Responsible for releasing three of his studio albums Paranoia, Fieber and Too Many Presents For One Girl, Confused Recordings has been a gem of a label for Huntemann. But this wasn’t enough for the legend! Carrying his legacy ahead with increased responsibility and passion he launched his own label Ideal Audio in 2008 and released a host of productions including his third studio album ‘H-3’ in 2009 which further cemented his position as one of techno’s most sought-after artists.
2008 also saw a devastating partnership of Oliver Huntemann and Dubfire as the pair released the awesome ‘Dios’ which was followed last year with the first part of their ‘Elements’ series: ‘Terra‘ and ‘Fuego’. The ‘Elements’ series turned out to be huge success and it was definitely the best thing to happen last year as both the artists released the third instalment of the series.
Not to forget, Oliver Huntemann’s ‘PLAY! 04‘ EP – Tasmanian Tiger / Melbourne his contribution to the mix series in the esteemed footsteps of previous PLAY! CDs is one of his best works till date. Letting off the natural energy from the dance-floors and the gigs, whilst also considering the listening experience of fans, PLAY! 04 is an accurate representation of the music Oliver has played all through these years. Fresh off the studio from Oliver is ‘Schwarzlicht’ which is direct yet sophisticated, brutal yet refined and physical yet cerebral and marks his return on the imprint Senso Sounds label.
