It cannot be denied that electronic music is making its presence felt in the world of music more and more with every passing year. The coming together of dance music producers with pop artists, be it Skrillex and Diplo with Justin Bieber, Zedd with Selena Gomez, Disclosure with Sam Smith or Diplo with Madonna, it’s safe to assume that electronic music is becoming more popular by the day.
In a recently published list of the top 100 highest paid performers on tour in 2014 worldwide and in North America, dance music has been represented by Avicii, Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond and Steve Aoki. While Avicii and Armin are featured in the Worldwide list, Above & Beyond and Steve Aoki make it to the North American list.
Ranking number 30 on the Worldwide list, Avicii made a gross earning of $21 million from touring in 2014, earning more than the likes of Drake, Imagine Dragons, Taylor Swift amongst many more, while Armin van Buuren, ranked at number 74, earned $9 million in 2014, with most of his earning coming from his Armin Only shows, earning more than Maroon 5, Arctic Monkeys, John Mayer amongst many others.
Ranked number 75 on the North American list, Above & Beyond made $4.8 million in gross earnings from their ‘We Are All We Need‘ tour. Steve Aoki came in at number 94 with $3.8 million earned.
