Crosstown Rebels head honcho Damian Lazarus opens his 2015 with a thrilling bit of news – he’s working on a brand new artist album! The legendary production wizard is going to release an LP titled “Message From The Other Side” this May under the iconic banner of his Ancient Moons project – a concept that saw the deliverance of one of 2014’s most curveball productions in the guise of ‘Lover’s Eyes (Mohe Pi Ki Najariya)‘. Lazarus’ has been intensely world touring as he’s been exploring world music cultures and bringing together various genres of musicians to work with him under the adaptable Techno banner. A man who has repeatedly redefined standards of perfection with his cutting-edge production quality, Lazarus‘ LP is already tipped to be one of the year’s highlights owing to his reputation and the phenomenal concept of the Ancient Moons project.
The Damian Lazarus & Ancient Moons project’s first and only single so far, called ‘Lover’s Eyes‘ sent fans into a tizzy at its aromatic perfection as Lazarus employed the help of Pakistani Qawwali singers as chief vocalists. Laden, with a vocal infused with Indian influences courtsey Qawwali legends Fareed Ayaz, Abu Muhammad and Hamza Akram and a steady rhythm which packs in dazzling tribal sounds, “Lovers’ Eyes” is one of those tracks that you’re likely to hear when most around you are navigating their way through some sort of mind-altering vision-quests or teetering on the brink of a k-hole. Alongwith this track, the album will feature a tantalizing mix of 13 other productions with collaborations with James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco fame, Egyptian percussionist Hossam Ramzy, jazz pianist ELEW and vocalists Ali Love and Moses Sumney. The album is all set to release on May 18 via !K7 and Crosstown Rebels.
