If chemistry has taught us something, it’s that when two elements combine their individual properties they can give birth to a new wonder for the world. Moving beyond classrooms, we find the Blasterjaxx duo a perfect living example of two individuals pooling in their musical prowess and raising a fandom of their own.
Consisting of dutch boys, Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf, ‘Blasterjaxx’ is a duo that has come to be recognized as the rising face of Dutch House and an iconic electro house act as well. Their journey to the top of the EDM industry tells a tale of hard work and perseverance. ‘Blasterjaxx’ came into being in 2010, but at this point the duo consisted of Thom Jongkind along with another producer. However, the duo saw the chemistry amongst each other decline and came to a consensus of dissolving the partnership, though Jongkind continued to produce under the moniker ‘Blasterjaxx’. Despite the split, Jongkind felt that Blasterjaxx was an act made for two and that’s where Idir Makhlaf (playing under the name ‘Macosta’) caught his attention.

Even through the two were living paradoxes of each other, with one being often “prominent and empowering” and other being more of a wallflower, their common interest in music sparked a new partnership that Blasterjaxx now came to be. Just like their personalities, their compositions were an amalgamation of electro house, big room and latin. The two found their sound rather quick and starting whipping out music that pushed boundaries of the monotonous big room tracks of 2010-2011. They started receiving support from well renowned acts of the industry like Sidney Samson, Gregor Salto, Franky Rizardo, Vato Gonzalez and many others. In 2011, their remix of ‘Hello’ brought the spotlight to their polished mixing skills and the world was left wanting more, giving them a queue to release their originals.
