After Tommy Trash toured India last year in November with Submerge, we had a chance to catch up with the Australian producer and DJ for a quick interview. Talking about his experience with Submerge and in Mumbai, he said he had a great time and was looked after well by the people at Submerge. When asked about playing at Kitty Su, Delhi and his expectations from the show, he said he hoped for a fun crowd, further commenting that he had been surprised the by reception in India, with the high energy and the noisy crowd, adding that he was expecting a more quiet and chilled out reception.
Talking about his track Fuckwind, he explained the whole story behind it. “I was playing EDC a couple of years ago and about 15 minutes into my set, EDC got shut down due to the winds. It got too windy, so they basically hoarded everyone into the stadium, because one of the structures was blowing. So obviously, I wasn’t too happy about it with my set being shut down, so I just went back to the hotel room and wrote the song called Fuckwind.”
He also talked about Reload, perhaps his most famous collaboration, which he produced with Sebastian Ingrosso. Telling us about how the whole collaboration fell into place, he said “Well, we started it over the net and then we met up in L.A and we basically just went to the studio and chipped away at it and then wrapped up the song. But it was a process of over about 7 months. I started it, we did it together and then he (Sebastian Ingrosso) finished it. Really easy process. I had no idea that it would be so big. Very happy about it though.”
When asked about his move to Los Angeles, and all the producers moving there, he said “I know, it’s like a mass exodus there. LA’s great, great city to hang out in and a lot of people have such full on touring US schedules now. They like the weather in LA, it’s really chilled out , lots of studio stuff going on there as well. It really is a main hub for music now.”
“I just wanna say to India that I’m really excited to be here and I’m really grateful and blessed for the opportunity to come here and I hope you enjoy the shows”
And that ladies and gents, was his parting quote for the interview.
