19-year old Dutch producer Thomas Newson has teamed up with Dutch duo Magnificence for Spinnin’ Records‘ new single, Blackwolf. And the end result of this collaboration is not very impressive.
Starting off with a percussive snare that gradually develops into a buildup with the synthesisers kicking in, the track disappoints with the drop. With a deep, heavy bassline, the producers could’ve aimed at much more with the drop, but instead disappoint with sub-standard use of the bass and synths. One of the positives of the track is the bridge and its eventual buildup, where the producers take a more melodic approach to it, but bring it right back to mediocrity with the drop again.
Even though the track has received support from various DJs like Avicii, Nicky Romero, Hardwell, Paul van Dyk amongst others on their radio shows, it doesn’t have the vibe of a festival banger to make the crowd go crazy.
Producer Thomas Newson falls short on expectations with this single, especially after his single Flute was widely applauded for its innovative sound, but being only 19-years old, he still has a long way to go and learn from his mistakes.
