Dutch Megastar Nick Van de Wall aka Afrojack, has been making bold statements about his stance as a EDM artist. With his album ‘Ten Feet Tall‘ exploring other musical facets, which perhaps do not fall into the category of Electronic music, the Dance Music Heavyweight is now beginning to venture further into more Mainstream genres such as Pop, RnB, Hip-Hop and Rap. Yet another step in this direction is his latest remix of American rapper Ludacris’s naughty ‘Party Girl’. Speaking out on his choice of drifting away to commercial genres, here’s what Afrojack had to say in a recent interview with Billboard.
If I wanted to be a successful EDM artist, I wouldn’t put 80 percent of everything back into the show. I would be chilling, demanding 20 hotel rooms, playing for one-and-a-half hours and being miserable as f-. But I don’t want to be an EDM artist – I want to make something that people can be proud of.
The track also features the contributions of Jeremih, Wiz Khalifa & Cashmere Cat, as the track kicks off with a re-interpreted song structure of Aqua‘s “Barbie Girl“, and ventures into far more lewd and dirty hip-hop lyrical manifest. The track is for all sense and purposes a Hip-Hop & RnB fusion into Afrojack’s new EDM signature style. Check out the remix below and let us know what do you think of Afrojack’s career choices.
