Apple working with Shazam for Song - ID feature in next update

Apple wants you to name that tune!

The tech giant Apple Inc. who has already revolutionized the music industry for sure do not want you take even a little bit of pain in managing your music.

The company at present is working with Shazam Entertainment Ltd., whose technology can quickly spot what’s playing by collecting sound from a phone’s microphone and matching it against a song database.

The song-discovery feature will be unveiled in an update of Apple’s iOS mobile software and will let users identify a song in just one tap. Among the ways it can be used will be through Apple’s voice-activated search feature, Siri. An iPhone user will be able to say something like “what song is playing,” to find out the tune’s details, as reported by Bloomberg.

Bloomberg reports that Apple’s interest in Shazam could possibly be a method to boost its iTunes sales. Songs identified through Shazam could be compared with iTunes’ offerings and further would be made available for purchase through the store.

Apple Inc. who has been reported as the most valuable company in the world not just once but quite a few times, has traditionally previewed its operating system updates during the annual Worldwide Developers Conference.

So, it is expected for iOS 8 to make its initial debut on June 2nd, during the 2014 conference.
