The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. Ultra Music Festival is finally coming to India. Word is, Adam Russakoff, Director of Business Affairs and Talent Buyer for Ultra Music Festival and UMF Worldwide, had reached out to Indian authorities last year, expressing his desire to expand the Ultra franchise to the country. After the entire EDM boom of 2012-2013 within the country, he feels the market right now is just about ripe enough for it to be a feasible option for India to be amongst the several countries on the Ultra worldwide roster.
Now after the widespread success of so many producer/artist tours within the country along with the worldwide phenomena that was sparked because of Deadmau5 recent India tour, the heads at Ultra have decided it was now the most appropriate time to announce this newly formed expansion of the Ultra Worldwide franchise.
Sameer Jaikrishnan, Project Director of the Ultra India division of Ultra Worldwide, is currently in the country meeting with the various officials and Indian partners, looking at various possible venues for the Indian version of the biggest outdoor music festival to date. Two of the cities short-listed are Delhi and Mumbai.
“The Indian sub-continent is filled with a large number of youth who have completely consumed the EDM culture that has taken the world by storm. We have personally never seen any region or country adapt and accept it as much as India has. With so many promoters booking artists for India tours, it’s hard not to take notice of this growth amongst Indian consumers“, says Jaikrishnan. “We felt that the time for us to expand to the Indian market was perfect, especially after noticing so many artists like Zedd, Deadmau5, Tiesto, Hardwell, and Armin Van Buuren express their immense love for the country. We’re going to change the face of the Outdoor Music Scene in the country”
Russel Faibisch, founder and CEO of Ultra Music Festival added saying, “The EDM industry is only growing bigger and bigger. After announcing Ultra South Africa and Ultra Japan last year, we couldn’t be more thrilled to announce our expansion into India. I’ve only heard good things, and I’m really looking forward to it”
The dates shall be finalised after the venue is decided, which is only a matter of mere formalities at this point, says Jaikrishnan.
We personally can’t wait for the biggest EDM festival in the world to hit our shores. Obviously, they’d be getting the biggest talents in the Industry along with them, not to mention never before seen production and stage design.
