Talent scouts Regenerate bring forth Tech House music veteran Daniel Steinberg on his debut India visit on a very special 3 city tour. Having been raised and influenced by the genre-defining Berlin underground movement, Steinberg has shaped his musical terrain over the past two decades and earned his place as a visionary DJ and producer. Known for crafting electronic music which is a heady amalgamation of crispy techno flavors, mixed with infectious hooks and insistive vocal samples, Steinberg‘s presence in the Tech house scene is one of an undisputed champion as his productions and DJ sets take listeners on a trip through the artist’s kaleidoscopic musical consciousness.
Fresh from his album release last year, called ‘Treptow‘, Daniel will bring nearly 20 years of House and Techno envisioned through his own unique perspective. It all started when he was 13, back when the Berlin Wall came down. Slipping out of his bedroom window to visit the then infamous E-Werk and Bunker clubs, immersing himself in the sounds of Strictly Rhythm, R&S, Low Spirit and Bonzai Records, his passion for the Underground movement was such that he quickly became the DJ for his school in Treptow making mixtapes for his friends. Years later, it was also in Treptow that he produced his first record in his tiny apartment, and today it’s that very former apartment that is the location for his studio and the site of creation for his latest album, completing the circle!
Initially producing under his moniker Harry Axt, he was quickly recruited by London House Music legend Jesse Rose on his Front Room label and proceeded to produce a string of stellar productions like ‘Cobra Limbos’ and ‘Keep On Movin’, in addition to dropping his debut LP as Harry Axt on Rompecabeza in 2009, before returning to Front Room in 2011 for the release of ‘Shut Up‘, his first LP as Daniel Steinberg.
Setting him apart from his contemporaries, thanks to his own playful panache, Steinberg joined hands with compatriot and visionary Nils Ohrmann to start their Arms & Legs label in 2011, to showcase their distinct and inventive take on tech house sounds free of any commercial pressures. Releasing a string of successful solo EPs such as ‘Joy & Happiness‘ and ‘Can’t Find My Baby‘ both of which received “Beatport track of the day” honors.
It’s plain and simple that Steinberg’s portfolio is filled-to-the-brim with rich, personality-laden electronic music, that’s indicative of not just the breadth of his production palette, but his passion and commitments to creating colourful dance music with genuine soul and feeling.
